Race, Power and Policy: Dismantling Structural Racism Workbook

Race, Power and Policy: Dismantling Structural Racism Workbook

This workbook assists facilitators in leading workshops that explore the complex role that race plays in our society today. These workshops will emphasize the role of race in shaping all of our economic and social institutions throughout U.S. history as well as the cumulative effects of racialization, which include race-based inequities and disparities. In addition, they will look for links between systems of racial oppression and persistent economic oppression. Participants can explore how social change organizers can bring racial justice into all areas of our work to achieve more fundamental and systemic levels of change in society.

This workbook is designed for a long weekend session and assumes that there will be follow-up with participants to help them make use of the tools and to develop racial justice policy. Each section can be shortened and revised for shorter workshops. The activities will work for a group as small as 15 or as large as 50.
